About Indian Newslink Business Awards

Indian Newslink launched the Business Awards scheme in 2008 to recognise and reward businesses owned, managed, operated and franchised by people of Indian origin. An external panel of judges, independent of Indian Newslink was established to receive entries, evaluate, discuss and finalise the winners. There were eight categories and the Supreme Business of the Year Award.

The Awards Programme is launched on March 1 with a call for entries. The Judges conduct three free online Workshops for potential entrants on topics of interest. These include 1. How to Write a Good Entry 2. The importance of a sound Business Plan 3. How to raise capital for business development and many other topics.

Entries close on August 31 and thereafter, the judges arrange for visits to entrants where required for interviews and discussions. The names of finalists and winners are always announced only at the Awards Ceremony held in Auckland during the last week of November.

Over the years, following consultations with the business community or based on the feedback received, categories are changed, new categories added but one aspect of the Awards Programme has always remained the same: its integrity, honesty and robust process. Our Judges, both past and present, are renowned business consultants, accountants, lawyers and specialists in various fields. We have in place an elaborate entry process, a specific form for each category seeking information about the entrant, including their structure, nature of business, their position in the market, financial performance and other details. Entry forms are downloaded from the Indian Newslink website and completed forms are sent directly to the Chairman of the Panel of Judges who undertakes the responsibility to distribute the entries. Site visits and interviews are held with selected entrants wherever there is a need to do so.

Professional assistance, independent of Indian Newslink and the Panel of Judges is available to entrants, who should negotiate terms and fees directly.

Assurance from Judges

Chip Dawson, Chairman of the Panel of Judges said that winners, finalists and participants in the Indian Newslink Business Awards since its inception in 2008, will testify to the integrity and high level of confidentiality that this Programme entails.

“We are independent of Indian Newslink and no one from the company is a part of our panel of judges. All entries are received by me directly and every entry is evaluated by at least two judges. They also visit companies to discuss or verify statements made. The Indian Newslink Business Awards are among the most respected in the country and as judges, we are proud to be associated with this Programme,” he said.
