Idesi Legal Limited, now a law firm based in Wellington, was initially known as Idesi Consultancy Limited, established in 2003 to provide Immigration and Employment services. Kamil is a prominent member of the extended community in Wellington and has often been asked to serve on Governmental consultation groups on migrant and refugee matters, speak and chair various events. As well as writing a regular column in Indian Newslink, she presents ‘Coffee with Kamil,’ an hour-long programme on FM 104.5.
Professional ties
Kamil is a member of the New Zealand Association for Migration & Investment and New Zealand Association of Immigration Professionals.
She is a strong advocate of human justice and takes up cases of ‘difficult immigration cases,’ and argues for the right causes.
Kamil is Chair of the Wellington Law Society’s Immigration and Refugee Law Subcommittee and Member of the National Law Reform Immigration and Refugee Committee of the New Zealand Law Society.
Social causes
As co-coordinator of ‘Mamta,’ an Asian Women’s group, she has successfully lobbied the Government on many migrant issues. Te Papa, our National Museum, has benefited from her input on ‘Aainaa,’ and exhibition on Indian Wedding in New Zealand.
She also evinces interest in spiritual matters.
Married to Karun, a Wellington Barrister and Tenancy Adjudicator, the couple have two sons, Prashant (Medical Student at Otago University) and Siddhant (studying at High School).
Kamil believes in proper work-life balance and emphasises the importance of family.
