Gauri Khan, wife of Bollywood Superstar Shahrukh Khan and mother to his three children, recently unleashed her untapped creative personality by launching her own signature line of designs under the banner, ‘The First Ferry.’
Gauri Khan unveiled this information at The Oberoi, Dubai and shared her future vision of her alliance with ‘The First Ferry.’
It is a Dubai-based design house owned by Prateek Chaudhry, a Kiwi national of Indian origin. He has carried the love for New Zealand across seven seas by retaining an aspect of it in the designs that feature in his work.
Prateek feels very connected to the country. He has had the privilege of carrying the Olympic Torch in the run-up in New Zealand.
Major centres
The First Ferry has a presence in London, Singapore and New York as well and is known for its cutting-edge style and classy designs. With Gauri’s own inimitable taste in both fashion and interiors, the association between her and The First Ferry is a perfect blend in synergy of mutually creative pursuits.
Gauri’s designs will be for high-end luxury clients who are connoisseurs of the finer things in life. Gauri prefers not to limit her creativity to only designing homes but also cafes, restaurants, offices, retail, spas and all other kinds of spaces.
Gauri will also be involved in architecture, landscape design, yacht interiors, the Gauri Khan Signature line of furniture and lights and the signature chandelier collection by Gauri Khan.
Futuristic vision
Gauri has a long-term vision for her brand.
She said; “I could possibly design jewellery, bags and shoes under my signature line a year from now. I have a dream for this signature line and design is my passion. There will be no limit to the possibilities of the extension of my brand with The First Ferry because the future plans are all drawn out with a clear vision.’
Prateek added, “Gauri has a personal style which she has developed over the years; a style that is as real as her and very innate to her being. This sophistication is further seen in her designs irrespective of the medium she chooses to express it. ‘Gauri Khan for The First Ferry’ brand has been conceived to cater to the global audience. We are relentless in our pursuit of making Gauri Khan for The First Ferry an international signature line which will signify the richness, the elegance and sophistication that both the brands embody.”
Good record
The First Ferry has many past projects to its credit including homes at The Palm, Burj Khalifa and Emirates Hills as well as restaurants, clubs and corporate offices and aspires to be recognized as a global powerhouse of design.
The First Ferry Chief Executive Heinz Klier, former Managing Director of Swarovski Middle East said, “Although it might be too prudent to make such comparisons, nevertheless considering my past experiences, I feel that the future of Gauri Khan’s signature line will sparkle as bright as the Swarovski crystals under the patronage of The First Ferry.”
