One of the most popular heroes of the Indian film industry will be in Auckland to celebrate the festive season with tens of thousands of his fans.
Dharmendra, who has starred in more than 280 films, will be the star attraction at ‘Manukau Diwali,’ being organised by Radio Tarana on October 19 at Vodafone Events Centre (770 Great South Road), Manukau City. The event, which commences at 12 pm, will include stalls (featuring food, public services, and retail items), songs and dances. The nine-hour programme will conclude with spectacular pyrotechnic display.
Seventy-eight-year-old Dharmendra is still making films, the most recent of which were ‘Singh Saab the Great’ (2013), ‘Jatt Pardesi’ and ‘Double Di Trouble’ (2014). He is currently starring in ‘Ishq De Maare’ and ‘Cheers- Celebrating Life,’ due for release in 2015. He was a Member of the Lok Sabha (Lower House of Parliament) elected from the Bikaner Constituency (Rajasthan) in 2004.
