The ‘Resettle Programme’ that boasts of providing a range of services to new migrants to the country will be a highlight of the ‘Asian Migrant Expo’ scheduled to be held in Auckland on October 11, 2014.
ANZ Bank is hosting the one-day event, second in an annual series from 10 am to 2 pm at the Sky City Convention Centre (New Zealand Rooms 1&2), Corner of Federal & Victoria Streets in Auckland City.
ANZ Head of International Banking Eric Chuah said that more than 80 organisations and services that help Asian migrants settle in New Zealand will participate at the ANZ Asian Migrant Expo.
Among them would be Government Departments, Consulates, ethnic community groups, law firms and media providing advice and hosting workshops and seminars.
Challenges galore
“New migrants face many challenges in settling in a new country. As the bank with the most migrant customers in New Zealand, we understand how connecting to the right people, advice and services can make establishing themselves easier,” Mr Chuah said.
He said that the first expo was organised in 2013 in response to a growing need expressed by migrants who were unfamiliar with New Zealand, and unsure of what services were available and where to find them.
“The idea is to get as many important services together in one place so migrants can get their lives in New Zealand off to the best possible start. ANZ has New Zealand’s leading International Banking team with capability in 14 languages and a range of products designed to meet the unique needs of migrant customers,” Mr Chuah said.
ANZ has a presence in 33 markets around the world, enabling migrant customers to open a new ANZ account and have their financial affairs in order before moving to New Zealand, he added.
“ANZ welcomes new migrants, settled migrants, or anyone who would like to connect with migrants to attend this free expo. They will have an opportunity to meet new people, get useful information and win a competition prize draw,” Mr Chuah said.
