Groser to launch Business Advisory Board

Trade Minister Tim Groser will officially launch the Multicultural New Zealand Business Advisory Board MNZB), reports on which appeared in our June 15 and July 1, 2014 issues.

Prominent businessman Wenceslaus Anthony is the Chairman of the newly formed Board, which comprises businesspersons from various parts of the country.

New Zealand Federation of Multicultural Councils Executive Director Tayo Agunlejika said that the Board will provide knowledge, information, contacts, training, support and services to help Small and Medium Ethnic Enterprises (SMEEs) engage and grow and to assist ethnic migrant and refugee communities with their business and entrepreneurial aspirations.

Growing diversity

“New Zealand is one of the highest migrant receiving countries in the world. The 2013 Census revealed that about 10% of the population comprises ethnic minority people other than Maori and Pacific people. Statistics New Zealand has projected that the share of this segment of the population would rise to 18%,” he said.

Mr Agunlejika said that New Zealanders value a strong multicultural society, with 89% agreeing that such diversity of cultures, religions and beliefs is good for New Zealand.

The event, restricted to invitees, will be held at GMP Dairy Limited at its plant in East Tamaki, Auckland on August 5, 2014.

Mr Groser will also officially open the Company’s second canning line, increasing the company’s capacity to produce about 40,000 tonnes of milk powder per annum.
