New Zealanders in general and younger members of the society in particular will benefit from three workshops related to Hinduism scheduled to be held in Auckland over the next four months.
The Hindu Organisations, Temples and Associations (HOTA), a collective Forum is organising these workshops to enable people to ‘learn and discover the practical wisdom of Hindu culture and its application in daily life.’ Event Coordinator Ram Lingam said that the hour-long workshops will also provide opportunities to and seek clarification from experts conducting them.
“We are living at a time of a profound awakening of consciousness that is changing the world. Much of that awakening has been credited to the influence of Indian spirituality and its practical applications. There is an ever-increasing need to know the scientific reasoning that is inherent in the Hindu Dharma that appeals to today’s modern minds,” Mr Lingam said.
The workshops will enable transfer of knowledge and wisdom, he said.
Indian Cooking
The first workshop will be conducted by Dr Shirish Karnik, a PhD in Ayurveda at the Sri Shirdi Saibaba Temple located at 12 Princess Street in Onehunga on Sunday, August 3 from 10 am to 11 am.
‘Science behind Indian Cooking’ will be the subject of the Workshop.
Our Karma
The second Workshop, under the theme, ‘Everything you want to know about Karma,’ will be held on Sunday, September 28 between 1 pm and 2 pm.
Adarsh Chaitanya, Resident Acharya of Chinmaya Mission New Zealand will conduct the workshop at Mahatma Gandhi Centre, 145 New North Road, Eden Terrace.
The Vedas
He will also conduct the third Workshop on ‘Know the Vedas’ at the Chinmaya Mission, 63 McKenzie Road, Managere in South Auckland on Sunday, November 2.
This Workshop will be held from 10 am to 11 am.
Mr Lingam hoped that HOTA members would take the initiative further to host such workshops in their respective Temples and organisations.
