The Indian Government should address the problem of collusion among self-proclaimed Gods and a few powerful politicians and end the illicit nexus, a visiting Bishop has said.
His Grace Dr Yuhanon Mar Dioscoros, Metropolitan of Chennai and Far East said that the new Government should act without delay since the voice for immediate action is becoming louder day after day.
“There is an increasing feeling that the authorities have not taken appropriate measure to end the unwarranted association,” he said.
The Bishop was in Auckland to meet the members of his community and bless the new Church being built by the Malankara (Indian) Orthodox Congregation in Henderson, West Auckland.

He said that children should be raised with the message of love, peace and service.
“They must be taught to respect elders, pray as they wake up in the morning and as they go to bed at night. All of us must truly love the members of the family, neighbours, friends, colleagues at work and everyone in the community and the society,” he said.
The Bishop quoted English Poet Robert Browning as saying, “Without love, the Earth is a tomb.” The Bible also teaches you to love your neighbour, he added.

Blessed community
Father Biju Mathew Pulickal, Resident Vicar of St Dionysius Indian Orthodox Church said that the visit of the Bishop fulfilled a long cherished desire of the Indian Orthodox community to have a place of worship of their own.
“We are blessed to be the first migrant Christian community from India to buy our own plot of land and construct the Church in the traditional architectural style. The community looks forward to the completion of the construction project,” he said.
Father Pulickal said the visiting Bishop is known for his humility and self-effacing manners and spirituality.
“He is a person you could look up to as a role model to emulate, and understand the goodness of human beings,” he said.
