The second episode of ‘Home Chefs’ is on the air today (Friday, September 2, 2022), highlighting the culinary art of the Philippines.
The multi-cultural cooking show, produced for SevenzTV by Sonu Kumar, his wife Shoba Sonu and their daughter Bharati Sonu features Anna Marie Boado Parant cooking ‘Pinakbet,’ her favourite food item.
Pinakbet is an indigenous Filipino dish from the northern regions of the Philippines. Pinakbet is made from mixed vegetables sautéed in fish or shrimp sauce. The word is the contracted form of the Ilokano word Pinakebbet, meaning ’shrunk’ or ‘shrivelled.’ Anna is a popular personality in the Pageant world. She also enjoys cooking at home.
In this episode, Anna shares the story of ‘Pinakbet.’ This is a healthy dish which can be cooked easily at home using fresh vegetables that be bought or in the kitchen garden. She has used shrimps, additional sauce and seasoning to enhance the flavour.
Anna’s step-by-step cooking is a perfect guide to learning and cooking this amazing dish. It is lovely to see her husband Kevin John Parrant help her cut the vegetables.
Please watch this fun-filled, exciting cooking show and learn to cook “Pinakbet.”
