The annual Mushaira Kavi Sammelan and Ghazal Night enlisted enthusiastic response from a cross-section of the society.
People of Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi origin were among the participants at the event organised by the Urdu Hindi Cultural Association at the Fickling Convention Centre in Auckland’s Three Kings on May 24.
The programme began with a tribute paid by Anne Pala of Waitakere Ethnic Council to Farhat Rana Malik who was found murdered with her daughter Sidra Noor Malik at her home on May 19
Association Vice-President Roopa Suchdev was the Master of Ceremonies of the programme hosted by Ghouse Majeed and Syed Mujeeb Hyderabadi.
Association Patron National MP Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi, Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand President Dr Anwar Ghani and Waikato University Professor Dr Asad Mohsin were among the Guests of Honour.
Among the highlights of the evening were Ghazals, Mushaira and release of ‘Dhanak,’ the annual magazine of the Association.
