Even as she flips burgers every day at a fast food store so that she can put food at her own table at home, this teenager pursues a dream in show business determined that she will get under limelight someday.
“Life is a struggle for most people and those at the top must have reached there from the bottom. No one has magic formula for success and there is a pleasure in progressing through hard work,” says Shyleen Lal, our Model of the Fortnight.
This Suva-born girl, who migrated to New Zealand with her family when she was six years old, has ambitions that motivate her to persevere through harsh realities. Raised and educated in Wellington, Shyleen often imagines her place in the Sun.
“I used to watch fashion shows and tell myself that I would be up there, doing the catwalk to the applause of hundreds of people. I would tell myself that I would be dressed like a doll and walk in high heels with a charming smile,” she said.
That aspiration became a reality at the Auckland Town Hall where Miss Indianz 2013 was held on September 14.
She did not win the title but for Shyleen it was special moment.
“I met other contestants, all of them beautiful young women, from all over the country and made several friends. I also learnt how to present myself on stage under colourful lights watched by several hundred people. I thought that Miss Indianz gave me the best time living the life of a model,” she said.
Shyleen loves to be a globetrotter, visiting all the famous places and meeting people. She gives vent to her creativity with drawings and paintings.
