Having established working tie-ups with Central City, Onehunga and Ponsonby Libraries in Auckland, New Zealand’s first 3D-oriented Hobby Club is fast progressing towards its goal of developing working relationships with universities, colleges, schools and other educational and technological institutions.
The Auckland-based Hobby Club has come up with a unique idea of offering its membership to all innovative minds to allow them access of 3D technologies and equipment, including high definition printer to allow them to design their innovations and models.
The Club also imparts professional training to its members to make them skillful for optimum utilisation of 3D technologies and equipment.
Tony Zhou, an IT graduate and migrant from China, started the Hobby Club aiming to revolutionise the use of 3D technologies in New Zealand.
He operated Barcode printed business in China from 2004 to 2012, gaining valuable experience and expertise.
“In 2007, many 3D companies settled down in my hometown, Wuxi, with government support. I was also inspired to have my own 3D printing business to bring the technology into people’s daily life” he said.
The 3D Hobby club team is on a mission to hold display and training workshops, to promote the use of 3D technologies throughout New Zealand.
Each member of the Hobby Club is allowed the access of high-end computers with a range of relevant software, 3D printers, an engraving machine and professional tools as well as ample space to comfortably work on projects individually and collectively.
