Anyone in need or distress can call Devender Chendri at any time of day or night and be assured of immediate help, wherever possible.
Never known to say ‘No,’ Devender is the first point of contact for people to report of a mishap; thereafter, he would take over the responsibilities and provide support and assistance.
As an office-bearer of the New Zealand Telugu Association (he is currently its Vice-President), Mr Chendri is an example of friendliness, hard work and community care for which people of Andhra Pradesh are known all over the world. Like his compatriots, he promotes the rich cultural and social heritage of his State.
A secret
A large number of associates and friends in New Zealand knew that he was getting married in Hyderabad (India) on January 6, 2014 but did not know that his bride was Ragini Lawrence Mathews, another active member of the Association and the community.
Those around knew them only as work associates (both belong to the Information Technology sector, he as Network Administrator and she as Programme Administrator); as such their surprise and joy were of equal measure when Devender and Ragini returned to Auckland as man and wife.
“Life is good and we should make it exciting and more meaningful by spreading love and friendship,” they said.
We wish them a happy, healthy, peaceful and prosperous wedded life.
