Going beyond the cliché that Beauty and Brains should combine to embellish a personality, our Model of the Fortnight Raji Singh believes that Ambitions and Dreams must go together to make the life and career of a person more meaningful.
The 23-year-old beauty enlivens her belief stating that her aspirations include modelling, acting and being a presenter to corporate women.
Born and raised in South Auckland, she has been a source of endearment to the community as the Youth Ambassador (Manukau) and as a promoter of education and recreational development.
“I am really passionate about working with the youth because I believe that if you want to make a real difference in somebody’s life, you should start with the young. In today’s society, it is easy to lose yourself, without knowing your beliefs. Embracing cultural differences and raising awareness to be one’s self is my platform,” she said.
Like many others who have been featured in these columns, Raji gained self-confidence when she was placed under the spotlight at Miss Indianz contest in 2011.
“I stepped out of my comfort zone and since then I have not looked back,” she said.
She would be the centre of attraction at the Miss Diversity Culture 2013, scheduled to be held at the Auckland Town Hall on November 16.
Raji said that her dream has always been to be an iconic Kiwi-Indian woman.
“I want to inspire people, show them how to be true to who you are and be beautiful. I am not tall, fair skinned, super skinny, with a vocabulary of Queen’s English. But I am a girl who loves to laugh and be herself, passionate about her culture, her community and promoting Diversity among youth,” she said.
