Should love always get intertwined with discord and separation?
Does pride or fear stand between two youngsters from the reunion?
Is such a dilemma typical in the world of love or are we over-stating?
If ‘Love means never having to say you are sorry,’ how can it thrive?
These are among the questions that a Tamil film, produced by members of our community in Auckland, tries to answer.
Oscillating lover
Called, ‘Oru Kal, Oru Kannadi’ (A Stone and a Mirror), the story revolves around a young couple Reena (deftly portrayed by Yalini Kandheswari) and her hapless and often-times perplexed lover Vijay (convincing performance by Sriprasanth Balaras).
Like so many of the current generation, Reena constantly oscillates between ‘love him’ and ‘love him not’ but finally decides that it is an incompatible relationship.
But the feeling of guilt daunts her and Reena does not know how to convey to Vijay that she wants to exit the love relationship. She reaches out to the Universe (perhaps the Stars) for help.
Vijay is also in a state of flux but is certain of one thing: No returning to solitude.
Does the Universe provide the answer to Reena? Does Vijay get his wish fulfilled?
