Spark, the largest telecom services provider in New Zealand has come up with a unique spectacle marking Diwali 2015.
The company is putting up a canopy of 864 coloured Diwali lanterns (covering about 80 sqm) this month as the Festival of Lights gets closer.
Although Diwali lunches, dinners, programmes and parties began about a fortnight ago, the actual day of celebration will be on November 11, 2015.
A Spark spokesperson said that the lanterns will be suspended above the plaza outside the Victoria Street entrance to Spark.
“There will also be a couple of plinths with touch screens that will allow people to interact with the lanterns. They will be able to change colours and light intensity to create patterns and movements.”
The Diwali Canopy of Lanterns will be up from Monday, November 9 to Sunday, November 15 at the Entrance to Spark City, 167 Victoria Street West, Auckland City. Entrance is free.
“An interactive canopy of lanterns will be on display as a part of the Diwali celebrations. Watch the lanterns change colour in a mesmerising dance of light, or use one of two touch screens to drive the lights yourself. Best experienced in the evening,” the spokesperson said.
