A young restaurant worker drowned near the Takapuna Beach in North Shore City on October 3 but the Police would like to know more about the incident.
Sarvan Singh Purba (20) from Moga in the North Indian State of Punjab in India was employed by Raviz Group of Restaurants.
The Group’s Managing Director Ravi Singh told Indian Newslink that the deceased was a good and quiet young man.
“The Police and the Indian High Commission have been extremely cooperative and efficient in processing the formalities,” he said.
While a pathologist has confirmed the cause of death of Sarwan was ‘drowning,’ the Police are seeking information from anyone who saw the deceased on October 3 between 2 pm and 530 pm in the vicinity of Milford and Takapuna, possibly near Kitchener Road or the waterfront walkway between Milford Beach and Takapuna Boat Ramp.
“He was wearing black clothes, of average height and light build. He had somehow entered the water, possibly on foot or may have even used one of the older dinghies or canoes that are often left near the waterfront in that area.”
