Following their victory at the recently held Veteran Soccer Tournament in Bill McKinlay Park in the Auckland suburb of Panmure, NZ Masters were justified in organising a befitting celebration.
The annual Tournament was organised by the New Zealand Fiji Soccer Inc over the Auckland Anniversary weekend.
It was a keenly contested six-day event with 20 teams in the fray but NZ Masters proved too good to beat.
Players, officials, well-wishers, supporters and partners were among the invitees to the bash.
The winning team in both 35s and 45s Veteran categories took home an impressive $11,000 as prize money.
“We created history,” Vineet Sharma, the team’s boss said.
Paying tribute to guest players, he said that their participation helped NZ Masters to achieve their goal.
“I must acknowledge a number of players who are in their 50s but continue to play magnificent soccer. They are our pillar of strength,” he said.
Mr Sharma said their bond and commitment were inspiring.
“We have brought home not only prize money but also two trophies and medals. We are a proud team,” he said.
