Political Career

Andrew Bayly, elected MP from Port of Waikato will discuss issues that matter most to Aucklanders: The adverse effects of the long shutdown that Auckland has suffered, the government’s failure to support property owners, businesses who have been unable to meet their rentals, the misery that has gripped businesses that have been affected by the Light Rail Project in the Central Business District of Auckland and the separated families of ethnic communities for almost two years.

Mr Bayly is a champion of businesses and has represented New Zealanders since his election to Parliament in 2014 from the Hunua Electorate. In the 2017 general election, he secured the third-highest majority (19,443) of votes secured in the country, accounting for the highest National Party vote. Following the boundary changes, he was elected from the newly constituted Port of Waikato Constituency in 2020.

Champion of businesses

A graduate of the Massey University, Mr Bayly is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Institute of Managers and Leaders, the New Zealand Chartered Institute of Corporate Management and the United Kingdom Chartered Association of Certified Accountants. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society in London.

He understands businesses, their challenges and has the expertise to work with them to find lasting solutions.

His career has taken him to merchant banks in New Zealand and London as an Accountant for more than ten years. Returning to New Zealand, he co-founded a merchant bank, offering corporate advisory and capital markets advice to government entities, local authorities and corporate clients.

He has also been a Director of several companies, including the Chair of the Board of New Zealand Financial Planning and a Trustee of the Enterprise Franklin Development Trust, the economic development arm of the Franklin Council.

We look forward to having you with us at the Group Discussion tomorrow.
