The thrill of meeting a beloved film celebrity is unmatched for fans but when such an encounter is marked by genuine warmth, easy accessibility, and a truly friendly disposition, it transforms into an unforgettable, almost magical experience.
Such was the enchanting atmosphere that enveloped Auckland two weeks ago when popular film star and entrepreneur Neelam Kothari Soni was treated like a Queen of Hearts at a sold-out event, well organised by the dynamic Stutie Junoo Sharma. Held on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the chic Jalsa Indian Eatery in Mission Bay, the exclusive High Tea offered fans a rare and intimate opportunity to connect with their Bollywood icon, marking a significant and cherished moment for the community.
Stutie is a rising star in Auckland’s event management and cultural scene. Having launched her company, AKS Limited, last year, she quickly established a reputation for curating unique and engaging experiences. That reputation was indubitably present at the Neelam event.
An ambience of exclusivity
The choice of Jalsa Indian Eatery for the event proved propitious, underscoring an ambience of luxury and exclusivity with a touch of class. Just as Stutie wished, the High Tea with Neelam Kothari Soni created a sophisticated platform with community connection. It set, in a sense, an inimitable precedent of informality with a note of discipline and dignity of engagement.
The programme was well curated to offer an intimate and engaging experience for Neelam’s admirers. The celebrity arrived in style and had a rendezvous with all sponsors first, after which she was welcomed with a flash mob performance, setting the tone for a lively afternoon with her other fans. The High Tea experience featured a menu named after Neelam’s most memorable films, such as ‘Love 86’, ‘Ilzaam,’ and ‘Jawaani.’ Each dish reflected the essence of her iconic roles.

The guests were treated to a quiz on Neelam’s life and career, testing their knowledge about the diva.
As the afternoon progressed, the mood shifted to a more lively vibe with dance performances and music. Neelam joined the guests on the dance floor, sharing her favourite dance steps. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and excitement as the attendees engaged in conversations with the Bollywood star. Neelam’s warm and friendly demeanour made the event even more special for her fans. They took full advantage of the stunning photo opportunities, capturing memories that will last a lifetime.
There was a range of talent, business acumen and expertise present at the High Tea- from financial advisors, mortgage and insurance brokers, to bankers, restaurant owners and small and medium entrepreneurs to millionaires. And the presence of the Consul General of India to Auckland with his wife Swagatika Bhuyan and Social Secretary Manisha Harichandan.
This Reporter shared a moment of that informality with Neelam, citing a coincidence related to the significance of November 9, 1969: the day that marked the Reporter’s first visit to Hong Kong, where she was born on that day. Many others shared their experiences or admiration for the star during brief photo sessions.

A cultural touchpoint
Such events play a crucial role in bringing communities together, offering a common platform for shared experiences and fostering a sense of belonging. They provide unique opportunities for fans to connect with their beloved stars, bridging the gap between celebrity and admirer. Beyond the glitz and glamour, these gatherings often serve as cultural touchpoints, celebrating heritage and shared interests, and strengthening bonds within the community. The success of this event underscores the strong desire for such connections and the positive impact they have on community spirit.
Stutie’s dedication to bringing high-calibre talent and creating platforms for community connection was evident at the event, proving that her vision extends beyond mere entertainment.
She aims to foster a sense of togetherness and shared experience, as demonstrated by the diverse range of events she has organised, including dance extravaganzas and competitions promoting young talent, and initiatives encouraging creative forms of expression.
