BNZ closes down to prove a point

BNZ customers keen on exchanging greetings with the friendly staff on March 9 visited places of worship, schools, parks and other areas of interest to do so.

That was the day when the Bank was ‘Closed for Good.’

This annual feature has become yet another source of endearment for those frequenting the bank, for, the Campaign has been designed to not only do good, but also enlist ideas from New Zealanders, even if they are not BNZ patrons.

The Bank’s dedicated website for the Campaign (www.closedforgood.org) experiences heavy traffic with hundreds of people suggesting projects for the engagement of the staff on the day of closure.

They range from repair works at a School, painting a Church, cleaning the exterior or interior of a building or any such project that would serve a good cause and make the bankers feel good.

As in the past, Raja Venkatesh of BNZ Partners on Quay Street in Auckland City and scores of other BNZ employees throughout the country did us all proud at this year’s event.

“Our Closed for Project at the Balmoral Presbyterian Church in Auckland went as planned and we are happy that we helped this place of congregation. All our stores and most of our support offices were ‘Closed for Good’ on March 9.

“I understand that there were about 5000 of us from the network who lent a helping hand on various projects in New Zealand,” he said.

The Campaign will return early next year but you could suggest a project for the involvement of BNZ staff anytime online the website.
