Direct flights between Auckland and Mumbai may be possible after Air New Zealand takes delivery its fleet of new aircraft.
Prime Minister John Key gave an indication to this effect while speaking at the India Independence Day celebrations organised by the Bhartiya Samaj Charitable Trust in Auckland today (August 15).
He said, “Once Air New Zealand finally gets delivery of their 787 Dreamliner, you will be able to fly from Auckland to Mumbai direct, non-stop.”
Mr Key said the Government’s recent decision to make it compulsory for all taxies in major cities to be fitted with security cameras would improve the safety and security of taxi drivers and passengers.
“We are also determined to raise the standard of education and it is heartening to note that Indian students do well in their studies,” Mr Key said.
